Thematic forum in the Municipality of Bitola for the improvement of the situation and access to services for persons with disabilities

On April 13, 2022, a thematic forum titled "Improving the situation and access to services of persons with disabilities" was held in the hall of the Council of the Municipality of Bitola, the purpose of which was to discuss the problems faced by these persons, but also to affects increasing awareness of their needs. The mayor of the Municipality of Bitola, prim. Dr. Toni Konjanovski addressed the attendees, referring to the activities and goals of the project "Regional learning for the implementation of Agenda 2030 in Southeast Europe", which is closely related to this topic and which is implemented by the Community of Local Self-Government Units in cooperation with the Network of Associations of local authorities of Southeast Europe (NALAS), with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). The mayor emphasized that the decision-making process includes all office bearers, advisors, as well as representatives of the non-governmental sector and other subjects, who need to act in partnership. He said that he expects such an approach to result in solutions to the problems arising due to insufficient access of persons with disabilities to sports and recreational activities, which is a need arising from social mapping and will certainly significantly affect the improvement of the social inclusion of these persons. and he added that he believes that the improvement of the conditions in the hall at the Center for Social Affairs, which is used by people with physical disabilities, visual disabilities and people with hearing problems, as well as the educational campaign that will follow, are two steps that will give very positive effects for the improvement of the lives of our fellow citizens. As representatives of "Mobility Bitola", our members Fanche Georgievska and Lidija Veljanovska, long-time activists and participants in several events organized by the local government, whose contribution is of great importance, participated in the forum. Activities continue.
