Accessible Barcelona

Within the framework of the Alter Trip Project, the participation in the international tourism fair in Barcelona gave us the opportunity to see and experience the accessibility of a metropolis with a million inhabitants and so many more tourists who land at El Prat Airport every day. Even at the airport itself, we felt the benefits of the realized accessibility from all aspects. We are talking first about the visible architectural barriers, which are practically solved down to the smallest detail – from access to a building, house, garage, sidewalk, signaling, pedestrian crossings, bus, tram and railway stations, metro. Signaling, adapted vehicles, buses, traffic with electronically accessible wheelchair-level aids. Numerous people with mobility difficulties who are present all day in the streets, restaurants, metro, buses, trams and other adapted means of transport. All vehicles are either electric or hybrid, there are no exhaust gases and walking and driving are comfortable, without smog and unpleasant smells. These 3-4 days showed us what we should strive for in realizing our commitments. The laws are written and should be put into practice, and successful implementation will be the crown of our efforts, step by step.
